THE ORGANISATION We are partnering with a leading general insurer operating in Papua New Guinea who is seeking a high-calibre Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation into its next phase of disciplined growth, capability uplift, and strategic expansion. THE OPPORTUNITY This is a full CEO mandate with complete accountability for organisational performance, strategic execution, and stakeholder engagement. You will lead a respected insurer operating in a broker-influenced market where underwriting discipline, relationship strength, and technical credibility are critical to success. The role requires a leader who is hands on, is a mentor with a knowledge sharing approach who can balance commercial growth ambitions with strong risk governance and long-term portfolio sustainability. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Provide end-to-end leadership of the organisation across all functions Deliver sustainable, profitable growth aligned to Board direction Maintain strong underwriting discipline and portfolio integrity Oversee reinsurance strategy, placement, and partner relationships Strengthen broker, client, and stakeholder relationships across the market Lead financial performance, capital discipline, and operational efficiency Build and develop a high-performing leadership team and culture Support selective expansion into new product areas and market segments WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE Success in this role will be defined by: Consistent profitable growth with disciplined underwriting outcomes Strong retention and strengthening of the core insurance portfolio Improved broker and reinsurer confidence and engagement Expansion into selected growth segments Enhanced organisational capability and leadership depth Stable, well-governed, and high-performing business platform CANDIDATE PROFILE We are seeking a senior insurance executive with 15–20 years of industry experience, ideally at CEO, COO, GM, or senior underwriting leadership level. You will bring: Strong technical grounding across property, casualty, liability, and related lines Proven underwriting and/or claims leadership capability Demonstrated experience in reinsurance programme management Strong commercial acumen with full P&L accountability Experience operating in broker-driven insurance environments Background in emerging, regional, or complex markets highly regarded Exposure to medical insurance, digital distribution, or insurance technology will be an advantage.
