Tiwi Plantations Pty Ltd (TPPL) is developing the Eucalypt plantation and carbon forestry program on Melville Island in partnership with Tiwi communities. We are committed to delivering sustainable, environmentally responsible operations aligned with international certification standards.
We are seeking an experienced Sustainability Manager to join the team at Tiwi Plantations Pty Ltd. This role plays a critical part in maintaining compliance with EPBC, ISO, FSC, and Australian forestry standards while supporting on‐ground operations across the island.
This position is FIFO from Darwin and based at the Yapilika Forestry Centre on Melville Island.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee environmental monitoring programs including threatened species surveys, water monitoring, weed management, rehabilitation, and plantation establishment support.
* Ensure compliance with environmental approvals, licences, and regulatory requirements.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental management plans and procedures.
* Support fire management planning, fuel reduction burning and wildfire response.
* Coordinate internal and external audits and maintain documentation for certification.
* Build solid working relationships with contractors, Tiwi Land & Sea Rangers, Tiwi Land Council, Traditional Owners and the community.
* Mentor and support Tiwi employees, contributing to training, participation and career development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualification in Sustainability, Environmental Science, Forestry or related discipline, or relevant industry experience.
* Experience with HSE systems, environmental management, or ISO management systems.
* Strong organisational, leadership and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and outdoors in remote environments.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental management plans and procedures.
* A valid Australian driver's licence.
* Have the right to work in Australia.

Pay: $110,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
