Assistant Manager, Accounting

We are a leading mid‐sized professional services firm based in West Perth, providing accounting, tax, and business advisory services to a diverse portfolio of business clients including SMEs, family groups, and complex structures. We are a fast‐paced, collaborative team with a strong focus on technical quality, client service, and practical advice.
We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Accounting who enjoys both hands‐on client work and team leadership, and is ready to step into a role with greater responsibility and career progression.
This role sits between Senior Accountant and Manager and is central to both client delivery and team development.
What you'll be doing:
Managing a portfolio of business clients across companies, trusts, and family groups
Preparing and reviewing financial statements, tax returns, BAS, and general ledger work
Providing tax planning, CGT, FBT, and structuring advice
Supporting clients with ATO reviews, audits, and compliance matters
Assisting with forecasting, budgeting, cash flow, and broader advisory work
Team leadership & workflow:
Supervising, mentoring, and supporting accountants within the team
Reviewing work and ensuring high technical quality and compliance standards
Assisting with workflow allocation and job management
Supporting training and development of junior team members
Client relationship management:
Building and maintaining strong client relationships
Attending client meetings with Managers and Partners
Identifying opportunities to add value across your client base
Acting as Manager during leave periods when required
About you:
CA qualified (or near completion) with a Commerce/Accounting degree
Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
Experience working with SMEs, trusts, and family group structures
Confident reviewing work and supporting junior staff
Strong communication and client relationship skills
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Able to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
Proactive, reliable, and team-focused
