An exciting temporary opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join a local government team in Emerald. This role is ideal for someone with strong planning, plumbing and building compliance experience who can confidently manage investigations, enforcement activities and stakeholder engagement within a council environment.
About The Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Development and Planning, the Senior Compliance Officer will:
* Manage planning, plumbing and building compliance matters
* Investigate and enforce compliance with planning schemes and relevant legislation
* Prepare reports, correspondence and documentation for legal or regulatory processes
* Coordinate workloads and support service delivery outcomes
* Liaise with internal stakeholders, contractors and the public
* Mentor and supervise team members where required
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the department
Mandatory Requirements
To be considered, candidates must have:
* Queensland C Class Driver's Licence
* General Construction Induction Card (White Card) or ability to obtain before commencement
* Demonstrated or extensive experience in planning, plumbing and building compliance enforcement
* Strong understanding of relevant legislation, council policies and procedures
* Ability to conduct investigations, inspections and prepare detailed reports
* Local Government experience preferred
Desirable Qualifications & Licences
* Degree qualification in Building, Compliance, Urban & Regional Planning or related discipline
* Pool Safety Certificate (or ability to obtain)
* Certificate IV in Workplace Health & Safety
* QBCC Occupational Plumbing & Drainage Licence
* Membership eligibility with a relevant professional association
