Mount Waverley Secondary College is a high‐demand state secondary co‐educational college with approximately 1,900 students across two campuses located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The Junior Campus (Years 7 and 8) caters for students in their first two years of secondary schooling, allowing both development and consolidation of essential learning through a unique teaching and learning approach that is designed to differentiate for students' specific learning and developmental needs. The Senior Campus offers opportunities for students to explore greater choices in a broad academic and co‐curricular program that ultimately leads to the Victorian Senior Secondary Certificate, further education and other pathways.

Selection Criteria

* SC4 Possess the technical knowledge and expertise relevant to the position.

Role

Attendance is Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 3:28 pm. Part time is considered. Attendance is not required over the school vacation periods. The annual salary for the ES 1–2 range is $56,580.00 – $72,460.00.

This education support class position is performed in accordance with guidelines, accepted practice and school policy under supervision and direction. The role includes coordination of other education support staff within the work area or educational programme.

The position supports the educational services provided to students but does not include duties of a teacher as defined in the Education and Training Reform Act 2006.

Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required at this level (with the exception that a Registered Nurse is not included at this level). The role may require supervision of students individually or in groups of up to four.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Head of Technology, Head of Arts and Business Manager:

* Support Food Technology and Hospitality staff in managing the kitchens, storerooms and dining room, ensuring compliance with food safety requirements.
* Clean and maintain college kitchens, sanitise equipment, organise servicing of electrical equipment and sharpen knives.
* Maintain food safety accreditation, monitor and support college food safety procedures, and prepare all foods and equipment required for classes.
* Assist students in practical classes to support their learning and achieve positive outcomes.
* Collate and order all foods required for practical classes for the senior and junior campus, and maintain and update records of chemicals used in food technology.
* Manage stock rotation and maintain and store stock and equipment.
* Prepare risk assessments for the food department and ensure safety measures minimise risk of anaphylaxis.
* Liaise with external suppliers of support services.
* Assist with college catering, including morning teas, year‐12 breakfasts, BBQs and other events requiring catering services.
* Support Arts staff in class by maintaining and organising servicing of equipment (kilns, cameras, musical instruments) and assisting in preparation, pack‐down and clean‐up of art practices.
* Assist teachers in class and work with small groups of students as required.
* Order equipment and materials for the faculty and research new equipment/materials as needed.
* Organise classrooms and storerooms, including the media storeroom and drama/production storerooms.
* Assist with administration of musical instrument student loans.
* Operate technical media equipment such as cameras, batteries, tripods, green screens and lighting.
* Provide technical theatre support and learn technical theatre skills.
* Maintain and update records of chemicals used in Arts classes.
* Assist with OHS management for the department and in the preparation of student displays and festivals.
* Undertake other duties as required.
