What You'll Be Doing
The Brighter Beginnings initiative is a collaboration between NSW Health and NSW Department of Education to implement preschool health and development checks. The Speech Pathologist will deliver screening, assessment, recommendation and interventions to children in the Early Education setting. Training of Early Educators will be an integral part of the role.
The Speech Pathologist will provide high‑quality comprehensive speech pathology services to the patients, clients and carers of the Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD), to promote optimal health outcomes. The senior Speech Pathologist is also responsible for assisting the Brighter Beginnings Project Lead to supervise staff, students and assist with operational and professional matters, and to maintain a positive workplace culture.
Selection Criteria
Tertiary degree in speech pathology (or equivalent) with eligibility for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including collaborative stakeholder consultation, and proven ability in liaising with multi‑agencies and building capacity across different providers.
Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills, time management and computer literacy, and ability to analyse and interpret evidence‑based practice.
Demonstrated, recent and relevant experience in management of complex paediatric clinical practice, including case management in the community.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff and / or students.
Proven experience in the delivery and evaluation of education sessions to a variety of staff groups.
Demonstrated experience participating in the planning, implementation and evaluation of local service delivery incorporating the quality improvement process and evidence‑based practice.
Current unrestricted drivers' licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive / travel as the role requires, which may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
