The Opportunity
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Engineering Design team in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth on a permanent full‐time basis. Reporting to the Lead Engineer – Mechanical and Pipeline, you will play a key role in delivering mechanical and piping solutions across brownfield EPC projects, supporting critical energy and infrastructure assets while working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, operations personnel and project stakeholders to deliver safe, reliable and cost‐effective engineering solutions aligned with operational and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development of concept and detailed mechanical and piping designs that support project objectives and operational needs.
* Prepare a range of engineering deliverables including calculations, datasheets, specifications, technical reports, bid evaluations and cost estimates.
* Support compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, Australian and international standards, and internal policies and procedures.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers, designers, contractors and operations teams to deliver practical and integrated engineering solutions.
* Participate in design reviews, technical assurance activities and continuous improvement initiatives to support safe and reliable project outcomes.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Experience in mechanical and piping engineering within oil & gas, energy, infrastructure, or similar industrial environments.
* Understanding of mechanical design principles, piping systems and pipeline engineering practices.
* Familiarity with relevant Australian and international standards and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
* Exposure to brownfield projects and/or construction and commissioning activities will be highly regarded.
* Experience using engineering tools such as AutoPIPE or Caesar II is beneficial but not essential.
