Overview
Neko Geelong is a cat-themed Japanese and Asian fusion café located in central Geelong. We are known for fresh ingredients, well-balanced flavours, and a welcoming café environment inspired by Japanese culture and our love of cats. We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook / Chef to join our kitchen team on an ongoing casual or part-time basis. This role suits someone who values consistency, professionalism, and teamwork in a fast-paced café kitchen. Opportunity to transfer to full time position for the right candidate.
Trading Hours (No Late Nights)
* Monday – Friday: 7:00am – 3:00pm
* Saturday: 9:00am – 2:00pm
* Sunday: Closed
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare, cook, and present Japanese and Asian fusion café dishes.
* Ensure consistent food quality, taste, and presentation.
* Assist with daily kitchen prep and service.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and hygienic kitchen.
* Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
* Assist with stock control, ordering, and stock rotation.
* Minimise food waste and maintain portion control.
* Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team.
About You
* Previous experience as a cook or chef in a commercial kitchen.
* Availability on weekdays and Saturdays.
* Good knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene.
* Punctuality and reliability are essential.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced café environment.
* Strong attention to detail and consistency.
* Positive, team-focused attitude.
* Experience with Japanese or Asian cuisine is an advantage.
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of professional cooking experience. Australian work authorisation required.
