How does the teacher flying squad pool work?
The Teacher Flying Squad is a Department of Education service dedicated to our rural and remote public schools in regional WA and isolated areas to provide short term teacher relief services.
Flying Squad appointments are initially made for 5 – 10 weeks, on occasion, there may be a requirement for flying squad support for a shorter period of 1 - 4 weeks.
Our Teacher Flying Squad members receive free accommodation and travel to and from the location of any appointment.
Due to the nature of the short-term accommodation provided, it is extremely unlikely that pets can travel alongside you.
Is this right for me?
Our Flying Squad teachers have success where they can quickly and readily develop positive relationships with students, have a strong curriculum knowledge, and use effective classroom management strategies.
Your approach will be flexible and adaptive, with a practical mindset; someone who can 'think on their feet.'
You must also be willing, and able, to travel on short notice and be able to adapt quickly to living in different towns and communities, and to interact positively in communities that are different from urban settings.
Interstate teachers are also eligible to apply for the Teacher Flying Squad.
