Estimator / Contracts Administrator – Steel Fabrication & Installation
We are a Perth-based steel fabrication and installation company delivering structural steel, architectural steel, and bespoke projects across commercial and industrial sectors. We are seeking an experienced Estimator / Contracts Administrator to play a key role from tender through to project delivery.
This is a hands‐on role suited to someone who understands the realities of fabrication, site installation, and the commercial pressures that come with it.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for structural and architectural steel projects, including material take‐offs, labour, coatings, transport, and installation.
Review drawings, specifications, and engineering details to accurately define project scope.
Negotiate and finalise contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Compile clear and accurate scopes of work for fabrication, supply, and installation packages.
Work closely with workshop and site teams to ensure alignment between estimate, budget, and delivery.
Assist in developing and managing project budgets, including ongoing cost tracking and forecasting.
Prepare and manage variations, EOTs, NODs, and contractual claims specific to fabrication and site works.
Assess subcontractor and supplier pricing (e.g. galvanising, transport, craneage, site labour) and manage procurement.
Prepare client progress claims and invoices, and assess subcontractor payment claims.
Maintain commercial registers and support resolution of contractual issues and disputes.
Contribute to month‐end reporting, including accurate forecasting of costs and revenue.
Build and maintain strong relationships with builders, engineers, suppliers, and repeat clients.
About You
3–5+ years' experience in estimating or contract administration within steel fabrication, structural steel, or construction.
Strong understanding of shop drawings, fabrication processes, and site installation sequencing.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and perform accurate material take‐offs.
Solid knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, and commercial risk management.
Experience managing variations and delay claims in a steel or construction environment.
High attention to detail with strong written and numerical skills.
Confident communicator with the ability to deal directly with builders, engineers, and site teams.
Strong time management and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating / job costing software (experience with steel‐specific systems highly regarded).
