Scarboro Surf Life Saving Club - Events and Functions Manager
Salary - $70,000 - $80,000 (pro rata + based on experience) plus super.
Tenure - The initial role will be for 1 year with a 2-year extension upon review after the initial 12 months.
Location – The Esplanade, Scarborough Beach.

About the Role
Reporting directly to the General Manager, you will be the primary point of contact for clients booking the venue and responsible for the end-to-end management of events hosted at the SSLSC — from initial enquiry through to successful delivery.
We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Events + Functions Manager to manage all internal and external function and event bookings for the Club, drive revenue growth and help us to continue to provide memorable customer experiences for our members and external clients that reflect the Club's values and reputation.
This is a part-time role (32hrs per week) with an additional allowance up to 8hrs a week to accommodate evening and/or weekend bookings as required, ideal for someone who is looking for a flexible role with variety, autonomy, and strong community connection.
The successful candidate will be someone who can think commercially, creatively and is highly organised.
Key Responsibilities
Event + Function management
* Manage all event enquiries, conduct venue tours and provide bump in and bump out schedules for clients.
* Respond to enquiries professionally and promptly, actively converting enquiries into sales and ensuring timely responses to customer requests.
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of all venue bookings.
* Assist with the event set up with customers to ensure that the venue and all venue inclusions at every function is delivered to the highest standard.
* Liaise with customers and external partners to tailor bespoke event packages for individual clients.
* Address customer complaints in a professional and diplomatic manner, escalating relevant issues as necessary.
* Prepare and manage event proposals, quotes and contracts.
* Coordinate event logistics as required.
Marketing and promotion
* Lead and create engaging digital content for social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, LinkedIn, X + Facebook) to advertise and promote the function space to both club members and to a diverse range of potential hirers.
* Maintain and update brochures, pricing guides and event information.
* Build strong relationships with local suppliers and event partners.
* Partner with a range of stakeholders to build venue profile and grow visibility of the venue as a premium multi use venue space.
* Maintaining and updating website content.
Administration and compliance
* Maintain accurate booking records and contracts with suppliers.
* Coordinate and manage a calendar of events that includes all internal club and external client bookings.
* Ensure all events comply with club policies, licensing and safety requirements.
* Work collaboratively with club management and volunteers.
About you
* Strong events experience and proven experience in delivering end-to-end events.
* Exceptional attention to details.
* Confidence to be working with corporate clients and both internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong understanding and background in digital marketing, social media best practice and confident with digital tools and social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, Canva or similar).
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proactive mindset with an ability to work both independently and collaboratively within the wider club structure.
* A degree in marketing, communications, event management or similar is desirable.
* Hospitality and/or customer service management experience.
