Job Summary

Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety WA – Collie WA

Salary: $120,457 - $132,753 a year

Position: Full time, Permanent

Remuneration

Up to $177,328 per annum (salary $132,753, superannuation $15,930, attraction and retention incentive $28,645, and leave loading). The ARI payment will expire on 31 December 2026.

Role

Inspector of Mines – Mechanical. The role involves administering the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 and the Work Health and Safety (Mines) Regulations 2022. Tasked with driving continuous improvement, conducting inspections, technical audits and investigations, preparing reports and promoting best practices across the industry.

Responsibilities

• Administer WHS legislation and regulations in the mining sector. • Conduct inspections, technical audits, and investigations. • Prepare comprehensive reports and recommend improvements. • Promote best practices and safety culture within the industry. • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Qualifications
* Tertiary vocational or trade qualification in a mechanical discipline relevant to the resources sector.
* Demonstrated knowledge and substantial experience in the mining industry in an Australian context, with practical application of WHS legislation and risk management principles.
* Experience conducting complex investigations and managing emerging risks and projects.
* Skills in negotiating and engaging confidently with mine statutory stakeholders in a high-pressure regulatory environment.
