Position CLASS A DUMP TRUCK DRIVER – Pay 2600 3400 per hour
About the Company
Ruston Paving is a commercial and industrial paving construction contractor with offices in New York, Virginia and North Carolina. Established in 1943 we are a family oriented company that has been in business for three generations. Our company is capable of all types of asphalt paving projects ranging from minor repairs to larger projects incorporating asphalt reclamation and recycling as well as new construction.
Responsibilities
* Teamwork is a major part of every position; you must be willing to assist others and be as productive as possible.
* The dump truck driver drives trucks equipped with various configurations of dump body to transport and dump materials such as stone asphalt or other materials as needed.
* Drive other vehicles and/or configurations as assigned and trained.
* Operate truck safely to and from project destination; maintain contact with dispatch for instructions.
* Perform daily truck equipment inspections per FMCSA guidelines; complete daily inspection reports and submit maintenance requests as needed.
* Maintain truck logs or time recordings as required by state, federal and company policies; weigh in/out for load ticketing and legal weight compliance.
* Load materials for transport, ensure proper and legal loading; tarp loads, chock wheels as required by policy.
* Move controls to tilt, dump materials, and manage cargo area cleanliness; conduct post-trip inspections and report any deficiencies.
* Follow all safety procedures required by governmental agencies and Ruston Paving policies.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Knowledge Skills and Abilities relevant to dump truck operation, safety, and material transport.
o Excitement and motivation for the workday; professionalism and willingness to take direction and constructive criticism.
o Commitment to safety of all individuals on the job site.
o Ability to adjust routing according to weight restrictions and vehicle uses.
o Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies; basic construction safety awareness.
o Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, memorandums, and short correspondence.
o Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings with customers, clients and coworkers.
o Ability to meet attendance schedules and handle problems in field conditions and adverse weather.
o Ability to work independently and follow written, oral, and diagrammatic instructions.
* Education and Experience: Any combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the work. Must possess a Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License and USDOT Medical Examiners Certificate. Drivers must have a minimum of 2 years of experience transporting heavy construction equipment and/or materials for paving and/or site excavation.

* Must be able to perform job requirements in adverse field conditions and all weather conditions.
* Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instructions.
* Ability to apply common sense and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagrammatic form.
Additional Requirements and Benefits
* Shifts start and end at the local division offices/shop; transportation to and from job site is provided.
* Laundered uniforms and personal protective equipment are provided and must be worn per policy.
* Occasional out-of-town overnight stays may be required with per diem pay when applicable.
* Double time pay for weekend work; opportunities to be assigned to other locations as required.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
