Overview
Visiting Medical Officer – Neurosurgery at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney Local Health District). The role involves providing high-quality diagnostic and consultative specialty services, participating in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities within the Neurosurgery Department and Hospital as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide diagnostic and consultative specialty services in Neurosurgery.
* Participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities.
* Manage complex adult spinal pathology including degenerative disease, trauma, deformity, infection and neoplastic conditions.
* Oversee oncological resections such as sacrectomy and handle sarcoma management within multidisciplinary tumour care.
* Apply minimally invasive, advanced reconstructive and deformity correction techniques across anterior, lateral, and posterior spinal approaches.
* Maintain high standards of professional performance and foster an academic environment supporting education, research and professional development.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Medical practitioner, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) with recognised qualifications in Neurosurgery and/or equivalent specialist recognition.
* Postgraduate Fellowship training in complex adult spinal surgery (currently enrolled Fellowship may be considered).
* Experience and proficiency in complex spinal surgery, oncology management, and minimally invasive techniques.
* Eligibility to be awarded Fellowship within two months of application may be considered.
Salary & Conditions
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the NSW Public Hospitals Visiting Medical Officer Determination.
