Details: The Development Solutions Branch supports statutory planning functions through customer‑focused services, coordination and workflow management that enable the timely, consistent and accurate processing of development applications.
The roles contribute to the efficient operation of development and land administration processes by providing accurate information, supporting application workflows and maintaining records in accordance with legislative and policy requirements.
Land and Planning Services team
The Land and Planning Services team provides frontline customer advice and administrative support across planning and land administration matters. The team assists applicants, industry and community members to understand planning requirements, statutory processes and application pathways, and supports the lodgement and early stages of development applications under the Planning Act 2023.
Land and Planning Services works closely with the Gateway function, assessment teams and other internal stakeholders to ensure applications are correctly lodged, information is accurate and processes are well coordinated. By delivering clear advice, responsive service and effective administrative support, the team plays a key role in enabling efficient development outcomes and positive customer experiences.
Gateway/ Duty Planner
As an officer in the DA Gateway team, you will be the first point of contact between the Planning Delivery Division and the community and development industry. You will have excellent communication skills and will provide advice over the counter, on the phone, in writing, and through pre-application meetings. You will research and interpret planning legislation, undertake assessments of development proposals and make recommendations to senior delegates. You will be a team player, with the ability to also work independently, and contribute to a culture of constant improvement and innovation.

Under general supervision, you may:
* Provide high‑quality, professional and consistent customer service as part of a team, assisting members of the public, industry and internal stakeholders in relation to planning, development, land administration and associated regulatory and operational services. This includes responding to general and service‑specific enquiries via face‑to‑face, telephone and written channels, including customer contact channels and public counters where required.
* Assist with the lodgement, processing and administration of development and Lease Conveyancing enquiries and other associated processes, using skills, experience and sound judgement to resolve straightforward issues and escalate more complex matters appropriately.
* Scan, upload and manage documents and plans within electronic document and records management systems, and assist with the maintenance of accurate paper‑based and electronic filing systems in accordance with records management and legislative requirements.
* Update, maintain and search agency databases and records to support the provision of timely and accurate information to customers and stakeholders, and prepare associated correspondence and documentation as required.
* Prepare routine, less complex correspondence and undertake a broad range of administrative and clerical tasks to support team, branch and statutory planning operations, including meeting service delivery and statutory timeframes.
* Support team capability and service continuity by assisting with the induction, training and ongoing support of new and existing customer service officers.
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance customer service delivery, administrative practices and customer experience outcomes.
* Undertake other duties within the Land and Planning Services and broader Development Solutions operating environment as required to support operational and service delivery needs.
* This position does not involve direct supervision of staff.
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months, with the possibility of extension up to 12 months and/or permanency. A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Opportunities for flexible working options could include hybrid working, being a combination of working from home, designated office based and FlexiSpace working locations across the ACT
