Primary objective
Support government to drive local business and industry growth through the development and management of targeted initiatives
to increase local participation in industry supply chains.
Context statement
The Department of Trade, Business and Asian Relations is the Northern Territory Government's lead agency to shape an enabling
environment that activates industry, attracts investment and drives business growth to sustain a vibrant Territory economy and
lifestyle. The Policy, Strategy and Insights Division works across industry and government to drive business and economic
development. This includes delivering analysis, advice and policy development to ensure the business environment remains
competitive and effective, advocating for the Territory's interests, and supporting the Territory's workforce needs.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Support increased local industry participation in gas and mineral service and supply chains and across other priority industry
sectors.
2. Provide high-level economic and industry development research, analysis and advice to inform government decision making
and policy.
3. Deliver and support projects and initiatives to assist Northern Territory industry to grow their capabilities and contribute to
government policy objectives.
4. Supervise project staff, including the delivery of outputs to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
5. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders across government and industry.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Extensive experience in planning, managing and preparing economic or industry development-related initiatives, strategies,
reports and correspondence.
2. Experience in driving business and industry development, and developed analytical, and project management skills.
3. Demonstrated high level of enthusiasm, personal drive and outcomes focus, with the ability to maintain a positive workplace
culture.
4. Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience in maintaining collaborative working
relationships with a range of stakeholders and the ability to influence senior decision makers.
5. A comprehensive understanding of the Northern Territory economy and industries.
Desirable
1. Degree or other relevant qualification in business or economics.
2. Knowledge or experience working within energy and mineral supply chains.
