Job Description
This senior role plays a key part in delivering high-quality development assessment and compliance services, providing expert advice and support to contribute to high-quality development outcomes. As a Town Planner with extensive experience in development assessment, you will be responsible for shaping positive growth and development that reflects community needs and values.
You will work closely with stakeholders, including developers, residents and other government agencies, to ensure that development projects align with the council's strategic plans and policies. Your knowledge and understanding of local government legislation, particularly the Local Government Act and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act, will be essential in ensuring compliance and making informed decisions.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will have excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to provide technical reports. You will also have the ability to train and mentor development assessment staff, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning or related discipline
* Demonstrated extensive professional experience in development assessment
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Local Government Act and Environmental Planning and Assessment Act
* Proven ability to work individually and as part of a team, with the ability to train and mentor development assessment staff
* Demonstrated excellent communication skills, including conflict resolution and the ability to provide technical reports
