Job Description - School Psychologist – Verona School (0000BAFE)
Position Information
Full Time: 1.0 FTE (Full-time equivalent)
Location: Verona School
Commencing: 20 July 2026
Overview
School psychologists are an essential part of the Department's school counselling service and work in primary and high schools. They provide counselling and psychological assessment of students to complement and enhance the work of teachers, strengthening student learning and wellbeing outcomes and helping families understand and manage their children's learning and mental health needs.
This is a truly collegiate role offering unique challenges and opportunities for professional development and for making a real impact on the lives of children and young people.
The successful candidate will be based at Verona School and will work across primary and high school aged students. Working in a NSW public school enables engagement with a diverse student community and allows the psychologist to use and expand a full range of skills within a supportive, multidisciplinary team.
School psychologists receive individual professional supervision with the Senior Psychologist Education and participate in group and peer supervision as part of the broader school counselling team. They also collaborate with school communities, staff, outside agencies, and families to provide comprehensive support.
Professional development opportunities are available, and the NSW Department of Education supports completion or maintenance of registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Additional benefits include leave types (e.g., recreation leave, flex leave), leave loading, travel allowances, and health and wellbeing benefits such as the Fitness Passport program. Indemnity insurance for psychologists is covered by the department.
