Senior Financial Accountant Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in Melbourne. The successful candidate will support our Finance Manager in maintaining the integrity of our balance sheet through robust reconciliation reviews, applying technical accounting expertise, and driving process improvements across the finance function.
* Review and validate monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
* Provide technical accounting support including guidance on complex accounting issues in line with relevant standards (e.g. AASB).
* Complete month-end financial accounting for centralised businesses ensuring the integrity of the general ledger.
* Prepare annual and half yearly reporting requirements consistent with Metcash guidelines.
* Drive financial process improvements through streamlining, control enhancement, and documentation.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external auditors to meet compliance and reporting requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A CA/CPA qualification.
* Professional services background with exposure to listed or large private entities.
* A strong understanding of AASB/IFRS accounting standards and their application.
* Demonstrated experience in reviewing and improving balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls.
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in financial accounting or audit within a complex, multi-entity environment.
* Familiarity with ERP systems such as AX, TM1, or similar platforms.
* Proven ability to improve processes and strengthen financial controls.
* Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
