The Company Our client is a recognised leader in the public services industry, supporting around 70 end users and partnering with major players in the sector. As they modernize from legacy systems (Microsoft Access 2003) to a microservices-based architecture, this role offers the opportunity to play a key part in their technology transformation. You'll join a collaborative in-house team with strong leadership and culture, reporting directly into the CTO and working alongside developers and support staff. Responsibilities Take ownership of the Terraform codebase - maintain, improve, and expand Infrastructure as Code. Collaborate with the development team to create and manage new environments for Java/React microservices. Migrate workloads from an aging VMware server to new hardware. Contribute to the long-term cloud migration strategy with Google Cloud. Support and optimise Linux-based systems. Troubleshoot, enhance, and ensure stability across core business-critical infrastructure. Promote a DevOps culture, driving best practice in automation and scalability. Expectations Proven background in Systems Engineering, Infrastructure, or DevOps roles. Strong hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure automation. Skilled in Linux administration and troubleshooting. Experience with VMware migrations and virtualized environments. Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP preferred, but AWS/Azure experience considered). Ability to work collaboratively with developers and business users to deliver stable, scalable solutions. Strong communication skills with a proactive and problem-solving mindset. Capable of balancing day-to-day support with long-term strategy implementation.
