The Role
We are seeking a skilled and collaborative Systems Engineering Lead to own the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems engineering, integration, and testing activities across the full lifecycle of cutting-edge aerospace vehicles and their supporting elements.
Key Responsibilities Include
* Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of systems and test engineers.
* Manage systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle—from concept to deployment.
* Collaborate with other Engineering Leaders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
* Continuous improvement of company tools and processes for systems engineering, integration, and testing activities across the lifecycle, ensuring consistent application across all projects.
* Coordinate systems engineering training initiatives for engineering team members.
* Team management for shared systems engineering resources.
* Creation and technical review of systems engineering artefacts.
* Oversee integration, testing, and specialty engineering activities—including reliability analysis, FMECA, and root cause investigations—in alignment with the HLS Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP).
* Perform top-down systems design for new products, including functional analysis, decomposition, and requirements derivation.
* Support design reviews at various levels.
* Plan and conduct system integration and verification planning, including in-house environmental testing.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Need
* Bachelor degree in an Engineering or STEM discipline.
* Experience in a team lead, engineering management, or coordination role in a fast paced, complex setting (approximately 5 years+)
* Hands-on experience in systems engineering (approximately 5 years+)
* Familiarity with the full systems engineering lifecycle, from operational concept through to system verification and deployment.
* Strong leadership with a supportive, hands-on approach.
* Agile decision-making and a logical approach to technical challenges.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
* Resilience and adaptability in complex environments.
* Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Jira, and MS Project (or equivalents).
Supplementary requirements
* Driver's License, preferred.
* Background checks, including Australian National Police clearance check.
