About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Supply Chain Management Australia, this role is vacant due to an internal promotion. You will lead a team of procurement professionals responsible for driving category strategies, supplier relationships, and contract outcomes across Peabody's Australian operations.
You will partner with mine sites, corporate functions, and global stakeholders to deliver value through strategic sourcing, cost optimisation, and supply risk management. This is a hands on leadership role with exposure to major projects such as Centurion mine expansion and key equipment lifecycle management. You will provide both strategic direction and operational oversight, ensuring contracts, negotiations, and supplier engagements support Peabody's long term operational and commercial goals.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and execute sourcing strategies across equipment, services, and projects
* Lead and mentor a team of procurement specialists, building capability and accountability
* Partner with mine GMs, maintenance, and production managers to align supply strategies with operational needs
* Negotiate contracts and manage supplier performance to deliver cost, quality, and safety outcomes
* Provide commercial analysis, financial modelling, and supply market insights to inform decision-making
* Build strong relationships with senior internal stakeholders and supplier executives to influence outcomes
* Ensure compliance with company policies, health, safety, and environmental requirements
The Lifestyle
This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with working from home options. Peabody offers flexible start/finish times and a 'redistributed working week' giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Fridays.

You will bring:
* A degree in business, supply chain, law, or a related discipline
* Wealth of experience in procurement, commercial, or contract management, in mining, resources, or heavy industry
* Proven experience leading teams and delivering cost focused procurement outcomes
* Strong commercial acumen with skills in TCO, NPV, and financial analysis
* Ability to build credibility with senior leaders and external partners
* Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred)
* A coaching, collaborative leadership style with the ability to develop others
