The Credit & Capital Management (CCM) group inside the Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division is launching a new first‐line credit management office – the Business Credit Office (BCO). The BCO will serve as a single client‐facing control point for all Credit and Lending (C&L) activities, providing structured credit analysis, ratings, monitoring, and transaction support.
As a BCO Analyst based in our Melbourne office, you will support Relationship Managers by facilitating new deal flow, client reviews, and renewal activities. Your role includes carrying out customer outreach, research, and both financial and credit analysis to ensure strong risk management and control standards are embedded throughout the end‐to‐end Credit & Lending process.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the end‐to‐end Credit & Lending servicing journey to deliver a seamless experience for customers and stakeholders.
* Execute risk analysis of new and existing deals, covering business, industry, credit, transition, and technical risks, and manage legal documentation negotiations.
* Blend client relationship management with robust credit risk assessment to maintain required credit quality and targeted returns.
* Maintain HSBC internal control standards, implement audit recommendations, and address issues identified by external regulators.
* Engage constructively with risk partners and clients to balance commercial outcomes with risk management.
* Collaborate with the BCO Team Lead to embed effective risk controls in the operational process and provide market intelligence to track risk against agreed thresholds.
* Deliver BCO tasks in alignment with agreed objectives, service level agreements, and key performance indicators.
Requirements
* Relevant work experience in corporate banking, top‐tier accounting, or related fields – e.g., credit/financial analyst, auditor, or relationship manager – with strong credit and financial analysis skills.
* Comprehensive understanding of various financing instruments and banking products for Corporate & Institutional banking.
* Excellent stakeholder management, relationship‐building, and alignment skills across senior leaders.
* In‐depth knowledge of risk management and proven experience ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
* Strong commercial mindset and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, or CFA credentials are highly valued.
Preference will be given to candidates who hold Australian PR/Citizenship or New Zealand Citizenship, or who can demonstrate current unrestricted work rights in Australia without limitations.
