Mens Outreach Service Aboriginal Corporation – Broome WA
An exciting opportunity is now available within our Men's Health & Wellbeing (MHWB) team for an Outreach Support Worker to work across a range of programs which support predominantly Aboriginal men experiencing complex life challenges. The MHWB team delivers case management and outreach services across Broome and West Kimberley communities, supporting clients to make positive and sustainable changes in their lives. We are looking for a strong, motivated person who is committed to supporting community wellbeing and making a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess new clients and support goal setting.
* Provide case management support to clients in particular those who are making the transition from prison back into the community.
* Make referrals to specialist services as required
* Raise community awareness of issues relating to men's health & wellbeing, family and domestic violence, substance use and mental health
* Provide advocacy and support to clients.
* Maintain accurate client records and prepare reports using a client management system
* Contribute to the development and delivery of culturally appropriate programs
About you: (Selection Criteria)
* A strong commitment to improving the health & wellbeing outcomes for Aboriginal people in the community.
* Experience working in Aboriginal men's health & wellbeing.
* Knowledge and work experience in complex issues including mental health, substance use and family and domestic violence
* The ability to communicate with clients from diverse backgrounds.
* Computer literacy and basic record keeping skills.
* Experience facilitating workshops or the confidence and willingness to learn.
* Ability to travel regularly to West Kimberley locations outside of Broome.
* Strong time management, planning, organisational, written and verbal communication skills
* Capacity to obtain and maintain prison security clearance
* A current WA "C" class driver's license
