Your current role
- The Executive Assistant for First Nations Leadership supports cultural governance and ensures decisions and strategies reflect First Nations values and protocols.
- This role provides high-level administrative support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor First Nations Leadership (DVCFNL), manages strategic projects, prepares reports and papers, and coordinates governance meetings.
- Working closely with senior leaders, the position embeds First Nations perspectives in institutional planning and initiatives, and engages with government, partners, peak bodies, and communities, particularly across the Northern Territory.
- Additionally, the role oversees major First Nations events, ensuring cultural integrity and alignment with strategic priorities.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, with strong cultural knowledge and an ability to engage respectfully with diverse First Nations peoples.
- Experience in supporting culturally informed decision‑making and embedding First Nations values, protocols, and priorities into governance and strategy.
- Ability to develop culturally appropriate reporting and contribute to policy through a First Nations lens, including research, analysis, and consultation.
- Strong organisational skills, self‑management, and capacity to work in a complex environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing reports, submissions, and engaging with stakeholders.
- Proven ability to build respectful relationships with First Nations communities, peak bodies, and governance groups.
