About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Womenswear Designer to join our team and contribute to the ongoing success of our private label collections. As a Womenswear Designer, you will play a pivotal role in designing and managing the production of our private label womenswear. Reporting to the Head of Brand, you will conduct trend and customer research, design innovative collections, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure high-quality production.
Key Responsibilities:
* Research emerging trends, customer preferences, and sales performance to inform design concepts.
* Design and develop womenswear collections, creating accurate technical drawings and selecting fabrics.
* Manage sample production, fittings, and approvals.
* Plan and present ranges to buyers, preparing trend and mood boards.
* Communicate and negotiate with suppliers to manage production timelines and costs.
* Conduct quality control inspections and address any production issues.
* Maintain an organised inventory of design tools, resources, and documentation.
What We're Looking For:Essential:
* You must have a Tertiary Qualification in Fashion Design.
* You must have experience as a Womenswear Designer within a fashion brand or retailer.
* Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for creating tech packs.
* Strong understanding of garment construction and textiles.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to translate research into commercially viable designs.
Desirable:
* Experience in denim design (tops and bottoms).
* Expertise in yardage and placement print creation.
* Experience in direct international sourcing and production management.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
