The CAH Art Volunteer plays a crucial role in enhancing the well‑being and therapeutic experience of residents at Colac Area Health’s Aged Care residence within Corangamarah. This volunteer position involves offering 1:1 mini art sessions and providing art supplies to patients, encouraging creative expression, relaxation, and personal growth.
The volunteer will manage a small trolley containing various art materials, including paints, pencils, mindfulness colouring sheets, and small craft items like origami and dream catchers, which will be made available to patients.
Requirements
- A genuine passion for art and creativity; professional artistic skills are not required
- Ability to engage, encourage, and inspire residents with patience and enthusiasm
- Good communication skills and a warm, friendly manner with elderly people
- Flexibility to adapt activities to different abilities, from those with limited mobility to those with dementia
- Reliability and punctuality for scheduled fortnightly visits
- Ability to work independently while also collaborating with nursing and lifestyle staff
- Respect for patient confidentiality and adherence to aged care policies and procedures
