We are seeking experienced Maintenance Technicians with strong industrial mechanical fitter experience for a role at a brand‑new, large‑scale automated warehouse in Tarneit, Melbourne. This is a permanent, full‑time position with an excellent hourly rate and long‑term career opportunities.
Location: Tarneit, West Melbourne
Initial working hours: day shifts, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high‑level technical support including preventative maintenance and troubleshooting incidents and breakdowns.
- Work on industry‑leading material‑handling equipment such as automated storage and retrieval systems, conveyors, racking and robotics.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair mechanical faults; carry out equipment audits and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Build and fit mechanical components, ensuring precise alignment and functionality.
- Diagnose and fix faults in drive systems, wheels, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Collaborate with electrical and software teams to synchronize mechanical components with automation systems.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance, inspections and technical feedback.
- Program drives, scanners and electronic control modules; troubleshoot PLCs.
- Lubrication, belt tracking, and replacement of bearings, chains, belts, motors and gearboxes.
- Seek to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.
- Identify operational and equipment improvement opportunities through root‑cause analysis of faults.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and problem‑solving equipment faults within a maintenance environment.
- Australian Trade Qualification – Certificate III in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter Trade).
- Restricted Electrical Licence highly regarded.
- Own transportation and a current Australian driver's licence.
- Commitment to safety, quality and customer satisfaction.
- Mechanical skill set, experience with mechanical and pneumatic systems.
- Industrial controls understanding (PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, etc.).
- Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
Desirable Skills
- PLC experience – training on Siemens S7 and SCADA systems provided.
- Microsoft Office report‑writing skills.
- Computerised maintenance systems experience (e.g. MEX).
- Automation experience – conveyors and sortation systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
