Role Description:
This role is responsible for promoting and safeguarding public health across the community by conducting inspections, investigating health concerns, and enforcing relevant legislation.
About the Team:
The Environmental Health Officer will work within a team to engage with the community and local businesses to provide guidance, ensure compliance, and contribute to health education and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
* Inspect food premises and enforce public health legislation.
* Educate businesses on food safety hygiene practices and assess health-related applications.
* Investigate complaints and diseases to identify causes and implement solutions.
* Maintain records and prepare reports and legal documents.
* Participate in health promotion and community education activities.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Applied Science (Environmental Health) or equivalent qualification including eligibility to be a member of Environmental Health Professionals Australia.
* Experience in Environmental Health with a strong understanding of food safety hygiene risk identification and control.
* Demonstrated local government experience in Environmental Health with a ability to interpret legislation and standards.
* Strong computer skills across Microsoft Office range of applications and Council databases.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
