The Opportunity
The H. V. Evatt Library serves the information and research needs of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) in Australia and overseas. The library is part of the Diplomatic Academy (DAC) which is DFAT's specialist learning and development hub dedicated to uplifting international engagement capability across the Australian Public Service (APS), with a strong focus on the Indo-Pacific.
We are looking for a collaborative and self-motivated library officer to support a small team of experienced professionals overseeing the library's operations.
The initial vacancy to be filled from this process is based in Canberra.
Our Ideal Candidates
We're looking for high-performing people with skills and experience relevant to the department's enabling services operations.
Our ideal candidates will:
* Have sound experience in circulation, inter-library loans, email management, and shelf maintenance.
* Have extensive experience in cataloguing.
* Have experience in providing quality face-to-face and online customer service.
* Have the ability to follow established practices and procedures, and update as required.
* Manage and prioritise workloads, including operating under tight timeframes.
* Be a collaborator and a strong team player.
Applicants for the position must hold a recognised library qualification and be eligible for membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or an equivalent overseas professional library association.
