About the Opportunity

Parkes Shire Council is seeking a motivated and reliable Casual Parks and Gardens Assistant to support the delivery of parks and gardens maintenance and operational activities across Council's Operational Services area.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Assist in the construction and maintenance of Councils Urban landscapes
* Operate and maintain small plant, tools and equipment
* Maintain Public amenities
* Engage in team activities and contribute to a positive team environment
* Complete tasks as directed by the Supervisor in line with operational requirements
* Ensure all work complies with safety standards and procedures
* Maintain accurate records of work activities

The successful applicant requires strong communication and teamwork skills. To be successful in this position you will need:

* Current and maintained Drivers Licence
* SafeWork NSW Construction induction (White Card)

It will be highly favorable if you possess any of the following:

* One year of relevant hands‐on experience in a similar role or industry.
* Certificate in civil construction, horticulture, gardening, trade qualification or equivalent.
* Plant Operations (Machinery Tickets)

The appointment will be in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award and Parkes Shire Council's policies and conditions of employment.

The role has been evaluated as being Grade 2 of the Council's salary structure with a commencing salary of $27.10 to $31.17 per hour plus 25% casual loading. The commencing salary will be determined based on the qualifications, skills and experience of the successful candidate.

This is a casual role worked on an as needed basis, with opportunities for regular hours during peak seasons, Council projects and planned leave coverage.
