A research team in the Monash University Faculty of Law, working on legal philosophy and constitutional interpretation, is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral fellow.

The research team comprises Professor Jeff Goldsworthy, Dr Dale Smith and Dr Patrick Emerton. The Australian Research Council funded project aims to apply contemporary philosophy of language to the interpretation of written constitutions, particularly Australia's.

Candidates for the Postdoctoral Fellowship should have completed a doctorate in philosophy, with a specialisation in philosophy of language, at the time of appointment. Candidates with a doctorate in law specialising in constitutional theory or legal philosophy will also be considered. A record of published research is desirable.

The appointment is for one year full-time, commencing on 1 October 2011 (subject to negotiation).

Teaching opportunities for applicants with legal qualifications may also be available.

This role is a full-time position; flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
