The role will support the Heads of the Payments Policy, Financial Stability, Economic Analysis and Economic Research departments in fulfilling their Line 1 responsibilities. This provides a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to work with the RBA's key policy departments. The role will assist our management of material risks and ensure we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.As Risk Manager you will:Coach departmental leaders and team members to embed a strong risk culture. Drive risk awareness and action-oriented ownership of risk throughout the departments.Provide support to the departments in their identification, assessment and management of risk and controls to support the achievement of business objectives.Ensure business operations and risk management practices align to the RBA's risk management strategy, risk appetite and supporting frameworks, policies, and standards.Work collaboratively with our Enterprise Risk and Compliance Team (Line 2) and Internal Audit to provide integrated assurance to the Governance Board and Board Audit & Risk Committee. Demand Line 2 insight, review, and challenge to ensure the continuous improvement of departmental risk practices.Coach and support the departments to develop adequate controls to mitigate material risk exposures. Support the control owners to test key controls on at least an annual basis.Support proactive consideration of the risk and control implications of change activities to drive timely and cost-effective incorporation of future controls.Provide risk advice in the assessment, root cause analysis and remediation of risk incidents.Monitor and report on the effectiveness of departmental risk management practices to senior management, highlight gaps and further escalate as required.Ensure the quality of risk data within the RBA's risk management system by monitoring and reporting on data hygiene.Contribute to a community of practice and share best practice to deepen understanding and drive consistency in risk management practices across the RBA.Support the departments to prepare papers for relevant Governance Board and Management Committee meetings.Your Background8 years + experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role, ideally including experience in public policy or in a regulatory agency. Demonstrated experience supporting the learning and development of business stakeholders in practical risk management.Demonstrated ability in supporting a business to strengthen risk culture and risk management practices.Experience in design, build and implementation of risk and compliance frameworks, coaching and training.Understanding of organisation-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards.Demonstrated negotiation and resolution management skills.Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.Be MoreWorking for an organisation that truly makes a difference to the people of Australia, we can offer development and career opportunities in a collaborative environment that supports your growth, wellbeing and promotes flexibility.
