About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Cook to assist with the day-to-day operations of our multicultural kitchen. The role involves preparing and cooking a variety of menu items, working across different kitchen sections, maintaining food quality standards, and ensuring cleanliness and compliance with food safety regulations.

Task & Responsibilities
* Prepare, season and cook a variety of Indonesian and Italian dishes in accordance with established recipes, kitchen procedures and food safety standards.
* Examine foodstuffs and ingredients to ensure quality, freshness and suitability prior to preparation and cooking.
* Operate and monitor kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers and other cooking appliances safely and efficiently during food service periods.
* Portion, plate and present meals with appropriate garnishes, sauces and accompaniments to maintain presentation and quality standards.
* Coordinate with kitchen staff to ensure the timely preparation and delivery of meals during busy service periods.
* Prepare and adapt meals to accommodate special dietary requirements, allergies and customer preferences where required.
* Maintain high standards of hygiene and food safety, including proper food handling, storage, cleaning and waste management procedures.
* Store food in temperature-controlled facilities and assist in monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages and stock requirements to supervisors.
* Assist in training junior kitchen staff and apprentices in food preparation techniques, kitchen operations and workplace hygiene practices.
* Assist with the preparation of seasonal menu items and daily specials under the direction of senior kitchen staff.
Qualifications & Experience
* AQF Certificate III in Commercial Cookery including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or a related field together with at least one year of relevant industry experience.
* Alternatively, a minimum of three years of full-time relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment may substitute for formal qualifications.
* Previous experience preparing Indonesian, Italian or fusion-style cuisine in a commercial kitchen environment will be highly regarded.
* Sound knowledge of kitchen operations, food preparation techniques, hygiene standards and food safety procedures.
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment and maintain a positive and professional attitude under pressure.
* Strong organisational skills, reliability and a high level of responsibility in carrying out kitchen duties.
* Flexibility to work rotating shifts, including weekends, evenings and public holidays, in accordance with operational requirements.
