About the Role
This is more than just a job – it's a chance to become part of a student's learning journey.
As an Education Support Worker in a Special Development School, you'll support students with additional learning needs both in and out of the classroom. You'll assist with:
* Learning support – working alongside teachers to engage students in meaningful classroom activities
* Creating safe and nurturing learning environments
* Personal care (meals, toileting, and personal support) for students who need it
* Promoting independence and developmental goals for students
Your role is to partner with teachers to ensure every student can learn, participate, and grow.
Role Requirements
* Minimum Certificate III in Disability or Certificate III in Education Support
* Minimum of 1 year of work experience supporting people with high‐needs disabilities in community, residential or school settings
* Minimum of 6 months of working with school‐aged children
* Demonstrated experience managing challenging behaviours
* Patience, empathy and strong communication skills
* Genuine interest in working with children in a school environment
* Two professional references, both managerial
* Current First Aid and CPR, Working With Children Check and NDIS Screening, or willingness to obtain
* Must be willing to assist with personal care duties (meals and toileting support)
* Ability to travel across Ballarat and accept same‐day bookings
* Availability to commit to a full school day, typically 8:15 am to 3:30 pm, with school days usually running 51⁄2 to 6 hours
