**How will I help?**
As an experienced Financial Crime Compliance specialist, you will join a newly formed team charged with ensuring the controls framework is effectively designed and implemented across the first two lines of defence for all Business Divisions
Reporting to the Controls & Operations function in Financial Crime Compliance, the role is tasked with assessing and uplifting the existing financial crime compliance controls capabilities to ensure controls are implemented and operating effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and assessing existing controls in operation across Financial Crime Risk and providing recommendations for improvement
- Assessing existing control framework and identifying improvement opportunities in existing design
- Exploring and implementing solutions to simplify and standardise controls and ensuring alignment to Westpac’s broader Risk control framework
- Supporting Line 1 Risk functions (including Risk & Fraud Operations) in reviewing and assessing existing controls and providing input with improvement opportunities
- As part of the Financial Crime Control Frameworks team, collaborating with others in the broader team to build and maintain a positive, proactive and high performing culture
- Participating in special projects as required

**What do I need?**
You will have Financial Crime related experience gained in the banking/consultancy/legal or government sectors as well as demonstrated knowledge of AML/CTF and other financial crime legislation, including key challenges, risks, trends and regulatory environment. You will combine this with strong operational experience and a demonstrated ability to develop and enhance solid processes and controls.
Additionally, you will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with and influence key stakeholders. You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and superior verbal, written and presentation skills. You will be highly proactive, accountable and able to execute responsibilities with professionalism.
