**Geologist | Geoscientist | Permanent Role** **About the Role — Salary $75k–$85k + Super****ALS Coal in Richlands** is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented **Geologist** to join our team.
This hands-on position includes both field and laboratory responsibilities, supporting coal seam gas assessment projects.
You'll gain valuable practical experience across a broad range of geological tasks while contributing to key operations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
**Key Responsibilities*** Undertake field-based geological activities, including core and cuttings sampling, gas desorption analysis, and gas composition sampling* Complete detailed core and cuttings logging, data entry, and drill hole data compilation* Prepare final geological logs and gas desorption reports* Conduct laboratory gas desorption testing, including equipment calibration and routine maintenance* Assist with mobilisation and demobilisation of teams and equipment to and from site* Participate in rig-up and rig-down of field equipment* Maintain confidentiality across all projects and company operations**Requirements*** Willingness to work flexible hours, including extended shifts ****** hours), weekends, public holidays, and travel (local and interstate)* Ability to work in varying field conditions and climates* Tertiary qualifications in Geology or Science or similar discipline* Strong attention to detail and a proactive, hands-on work ethic* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team* Experience collecting and analysing desorbing gas from coal core* High-level analytical skills with strong attention to detail* Experience working on a drill rig is advantageous* Pre-employment medical required This position is ideal for someone looking to begin or advance their geology career within an organisation that values hands-on fieldwork, teamwork, and ongoing career development.
