Doctors in Training (DiT) 2027 – Advanced Trainee – General Medicine – Multiple positions
Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a 400‐bed public hospital providing acute care services and is the major referral centre for the North and North‐West regions of Tasmania. It is a teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania and accredited with the RACP for advanced training in a number of specialties including General Medicine. LGH is accredited for both years of core training in General and Acute Care Medicine, and additional non‐core training.
During Advanced Physician Training at LGH you will be exposed to a wide range of well‐supported inpatient and outpatient work. Opportunities to rotate to specialties such as Perioperative Medicine, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Stroke, Cardiology, Renal, Respiratory and Rehabilitation are available, as well as assisting with the organisation of the FRACP clinical examination. Acute terms are available in Cardiology, Stroke and the Acute Medical Unit.
The Role
* Responsible for the day‐to‐day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after‐hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.
Details of Appointment
* Multiple fixed‐term full‐time day workers with on‐call position working 76 hours per fortnight with an additional 10 hours of protected training time, commencing 1 February 2027 until 6 February 2028. Negotiation of contracts up to three years and flexible training may be applicable.
* Hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
* For a period of twelve months from the date of publication this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full‐time and part‐time vacancies.
Salary
Medical Practitioner Level 5‐11: $134,930 – $189,005 per annum, pro‐rata + 11.5 % superannuation + access to salary packaging. Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022.
Eligibility
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Working with Children Registration.
Qualifications – Highly Desirable
* Successfully completed basic physician training or RACP peer review (determined approval to work at an AT level by the RACP).
* Registration/ licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role.
