Who we are
Biosecurity Operations Division (BOD) delivers nationally integrated biosecurity and imported food regulatory activities to ensure goods, conveyances and travellers meet Australia's import requirements. Divisional operations include policy and regulatory control setting across imported food and biosecurity risk pathways, as well as the delivery of assessment, inspection, community engagement and contact centre services. The division also partners with industry to improve the delivery of regulatory functions. The division spans a range of regulatory activities that plays a critical role in reducing risk and shaping our nation to become one of the few countries in the world to remain free from the world's most severe pests and diseases.
The Operational Strategy and Reform is responsible for managing divisional governance, business planning and reporting, project management, operational change management, business continuity, data and analytics, recruitment, and financials including budget and cost recovery arrangements. The branch leads regulatory capability and uplift for the division through decision support capability and reform initiatives and supports regulatory assurance functions including the exercise of regulatory decisions relating to infringement notices given by biosecurity officers. The branch drives reform through detection technology capabilities, automation advances, operational business improvements and border modernisation initiatives.

The Job
As the Automation Support Officer, you will:
- Support digital platforms, including creating and using knowledge base articles, diagnosing and rectifying software issues.
- Engage with various stakeholders to provide guidance and support in the use of digital solutions and to troubleshoot issues.
- Support quality assurance and testing procedures by creating, executing, and evaluating the results of test cases.
- Conduct quality assurance verification for robotic process automation (RPA) solutions and document issues.
- Prepare written reports detailing the outcome of quality assurance and verification activities.
- Document issues and defects for escalation through to development team.
- Actively monitor and respond to technical support requests, user queries, and technical health indicators to ensure the effective functioning of live automations and applications.
- Independently problem-solve, investigate, assess impacts, and escalate to senior team members as appropriate.
