About the role
Thiess is recruiting a Site Engineer for the Eva Copper Mine Project located on the traditional lands of the Kalkadoon People, approximately 75 kilometres north of Cloncurry and 95 kilometres north‐east of Mount Isa. The position is offered as a max‐term contract through to October, with potential for a FIFO roster from Townsville or Brisbane and on‐site accommodation.
Reporting to the Project Engineer, you will work collaboratively to deliver high‐quality plans and designs for civil works.
Key responsibilities
* Design civil construction components for both permanent and temporary works.
* Liaise with the Construction Manager to improve processes and clarify design requirements.
* Ensure civil operations are executed efficiently and cost‐effectively.
* Perform duties as a Quality Management Representative.
* Report daily progress, non‐compliance issues, and work delays to the Construction Manager.
* Conduct regular inspections of job sites to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
* Actively monitor the work environment to identify and mitigate hazards.
* Assist with quality and safety audits.
* Implement technical and safety requirements for the project.
* Oversee and monitor daily quality control procedures.
* Track daily production and ensure adherence to cost and schedule targets.
* Actively contribute to continuous improvement and innovation of work practices.
About you
* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
* 12 years of experience in civil construction projects, preferably in a mining environment.
* A current, valid Australian driver's licence.
* Possession of a White Card.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation abilities.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills.
* Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite, with intermediate to advanced skills.
