Role Responsibilities
Application Development: Design, develop, and implement web applications using the Laravel framework.
Back-End Development: Write clean, efficient, and well documented PHP code for server-side logic, database management, and API integrations.
Database Management: Work with relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.) to design and manage efficient database schemas, queries, and relationships.
Collaborative Development: Collaborate closely with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic, ensuring seamless functionality.
Testing & Debugging: Write and execute unit tests, identify bugs, and implement fixes to improve application performance and reliability.
Code Optimization: Continuously optimise code to improve load times, enhance performance, and ensure scalability as the user base grows.
Security & Data Protection: Ensure security best practices are followed, including encryption, validation, and user authentication, to safeguard sensitive data.
Version Control: Utilize Git and version control best practices to manage code repositories and collaborate with other developers in a team environment.
Maintenance & Updates: Provide ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting, and updates to existing applications as required.
Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including project specifications, API documentation, and code comments.
Key Requirements
Proven Experience: Strong hands-on experience with PHP and the Laravel framework (preferably 5+ years).
Web Development Skills: Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end libraries or frameworks.
Database Knowledge: Solid experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL), database design, query optimisation, and migrations in Laravel.
API Integration: Experience with RESTful API development and integration, and familiarity with third-party API services.
Version Control: Proficiency in Git, GitHub, or GitLab for version control and collaboration in a development team environment.
Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify issues and provide effective solutions.
Familiarity with Testing: Experience with automated testing frameworks (e.g., PHPUnit) and TDD practices is a plus.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication, time-management, and collaboration skills.
Additional InformationOver and above, you will act as a consultant, offering technical insights, sharing your knowledge, and collaborating with clients.
Being a Melbourne based organisation, we are looking for a team based locally.
Applicants must hold Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or have other permanent work rights.
OTIC cannot sponsor or support visas at this stage.
Location & SalaryMelbourne, Victoria, Australia
Salary: A$90,000 – A$130,000 per annum.
