Paediatric Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist – ARFID Service

We have an opportunity for a Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist to join the ABUHB Paediatric ARFID Service. The ABUHB Paediatric ARFID service was the first operational ARFID service in Wales and we retain close links with regional and national developments. There is currently a focus on developing ARFID pathways across Wales so this is an exciting time to join this service. We are seeking a motivated and compassionate psychologist to join our multidisciplinary team supporting children, young people and their families living with ARFID. ABUHB Paediatric ARFID Service comprises of Dietetic and Psychology input, and there are hopes to expand this further to include other disciplines. The service sits uniquely across both CAMHS and Paediatric Psychology.

This post will be working with CYPs and their Families. You will maintain close professional links with the wider child psychology team and will be professionally supported and managed within the Paediatric Psychology Service.

In this role, you will provide psychological assessments, individual and groupinterventions, and develop/contribute to personalised intervention plans. You will collaborate closely with and offer training and consultation to dietitians, physicians, and other health, education and social care professionals.

You will have a passion for supporting young people, their families and systems, excellent communication skills, and experience in either eating disorder services or Paediatric Psychology services.

Main duties of the job

To provide a psychological service to children and families in the population served by the specified service as directed by theHead of Paediatric Clinical Psychology Service and Paediatric ARFID Service.This includes direct intervention work with Children / Young People and their families and significant others; consultation workadvising staff of other disciplines on the psychological aspects of casework. It involves conducting psychological assessmentsand the delivery of appropriate therapeutic interventions for the full range of referred difficulties accepted by the Service.To provide teaching, training and supervision of the psychological work of psychologists and of staff of other disciplines.To conduct and supervise research and audit, and to develop and evaluate new clinical and psychological programmes, as a majorresponsibility of the job. To participate in relevant research/audit groups, as required by the Family and Therapies Division.To contribute to the development of new psychological services and participate in the Paediatric Clinical Psychology Service andPaediatric ARFID Service planning and development and advise the Head of Child and Family Psychology and Therapies Serviceand Paediatric ARFID Service.
