APS6/EL1 Senior Lawyer within Exciting Commonwealth DepartmentAdd expected salary to your profile for insightsAllygroup is seeking multiple Senior Lawyers to join a federal government agency. This role is ideal for senior lawyers who thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment and want to contribute to work of national significance. It is offered on a full-time basis; however, part-time arrangements may be considered for suitably experienced candidates.Candidates must be based in Canberra. Applicants based in other states may be considered on a case-by-case basis.Advising and acting one or more of the areas of administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy), anti-doping, commercial law, employment law, integrity and litigation, depending on experience.Preparing submissions for the Chief Executive Officer.Providing high quality legal advice to other areas on a range of matters affecting the agency’s operations.Conducting legal research where required and assisting in training agency staff on legal issues.Working collaboratively with the other operational and support areas, with external stakeholders, and with other national organisations and agencies.Providing high quality advice on a range of complex matters within tight timeframes.Balancing unpredictable workloads and work timetables.Ensuring all potential rule violation matters and business support matters are managed in compliance with the agency’s legislative framework, associated standards, and policies.Operating in a position of trust by handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.Assisting in the development and maintenance of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, high-level documents, briefs, papers and correspondence.Ensuring that Australian Public Service Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times.A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent), and admission as a legal practitioner in a Supreme Court of a State or Territory.Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following practice areas:administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy)anti-dopingcommercial lawintegrity and litigationWell-developed decision-making and judgment, in providing legal advice across multiple areas of legal practice.Well-developed document review, drafting and legal research skills.The ability to develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Sound knowledge of integrity and anti-doping frameworks, or the ability to acquire such knowledge.Advising and acting one or more of the areas of administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy), anti-doping, commercial law, employment law, integrity and litigation, depending on experience.Preparing submissions for the Chief Executive Officer.Providing high quality legal advice to other areas on a range of matters affecting the agency’s operations.Conducting legal research where required and assisting in training agency staff on legal issues.Working collaboratively with the other operational and support areas, with external stakeholders, and with other national organisations and agencies.Drafting and reviewing agreements and contracts where required, including cooperation agreements with other relevant bodies and law enforcement bodies both locally and internationally.Working in legal policy development, including providing advice on regulatory or legislative proposals.Supervising and mentoring junior staff and providing legal training to other areas.Providing, and managing the provision of, high quality advice on a range of complex matters within tight timeframes.Balancing unpredictable workloads and work timetables.Ensuring all potential anti-doping rule violations are managed in compliance with the agency’s legislative framework, associated standards, and policies.Ensuring all potential business support matters (such as procurement and Freedom of Information requests) are managed in compliance with relevant legislation and Government policies.Operating in a position of trust by handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.Assisting in the development and maintenance of relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, high-level documents, papers and correspondence.A law degree from an Australian tertiary institution (or equivalent), and admission as a legal practitioner in a Supreme Court of a State or Territory.Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following practice areas:administrative law (e.g. freedom of information and privacy)anti-dopingcommercial lawintegrity and litigationStrong time management skills with the ability to prioritise changing workloads in a busy and demanding environment.Experience in building productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to mentor and supervise junior lawyers.Knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, sports anti-doping and integrity frameworks and jurisprudence.In
