Overview
Sante Recruitment is partnering with Southern NSW Local Health District to appoint a Consultant Physician with an interest in Geriatric and/or Rehabilitation Medicine at South East Regional Hospital. This is a unique leadership opportunity within a purpose-built Sub‐Acute Rehabilitation Unit (SARU), offering the chance to shape and lead a growing service while maintaining a broad scope across general and consultative medicine. You will play a key role in delivering specialist geriatric and rehabilitation care, contributing to multidisciplinary care models, and supporting the development of high-quality regional health services.
Hospital
Opened in 2016, South East Regional Hospital is a modern, well‐equipped regional referral facility offering:
* Emergency Department
* Medical and surgical inpatient services
* Level 3 maternity and paediatric units
* Intensive Care Unit with 24‐hour consultant and registrar cover
* Three operating theatres (including day surgery)
* Inpatient mental health unit
* Sub‐acute rehabilitation unit (20 beds)
* Renal dialysis and outpatient cancer services

Your Role
Reporting To The Director Of Medical Services, You Will
* Provide specialist geriatric and rehabilitation services
* Take a lead role in the 20‐bed Sub‐Acute Rehabilitation Unit (SARU)
* Contribute to the general medicine on‐call roster
* Provide ortho‐geriatric support to a busy orthopaedic service
* Deliver consultative geriatric care across the hospital
* Participate in teaching, supervision, and mentoring of trainees
* Contribute to research and service development initiatives
You will work within a collaborative physician group and an established multidisciplinary team.

* Royal Australasian College of Physicians
* Royal Australasian College of Surgeons
* Australasian College for Emergency Medicine
* Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
* Royal Australian College of General Practitioners
* Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine
You will be actively involved in education and supervision of Basic Physician Trainees, medical students, and junior doctors, supported by rotations from Canberra Hospital.

Requirements
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (or equivalent)
* Interest and/or formal training in Geriatric Medicine and/or Rehabilitation Medicine
* Eligible for, or holding, Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency Specialist Registration
