About the role
We are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to join our team at Enerven, reporting directly to the Civil Structural Engineering Lead. This key role involves the development and authority of structural engineering designs related to HV substations and renewable projects.
Responsibilities
* Leading the structural engineering outcomes in conceptual design, detailed design, procurement, and construction, ensuring all work aligns with relevant standards, specifications, and guidelines for regulatory compliance
* Providing expert knowledge and technical authority in structural engineering design
* Lead the mentoring and professional development of other structural engineers and graduates within the design and engineering team.
* Provide specialised technical and engineering expertise, support and advice for Enerven’s strategic and highest risk delivery projects
* Apply sound engineering principles to ensure all footing and structural designs comply with relevant standards, including statutory regulations, Client specifications, Australian Standards, and other applicable guidelines.
* Develop, peer‑review and technically authorise engineering calculations and reports for all structural engineering designs
* Create, with team support, detailed engineering drawings and design models for structural engineering design including the review and validation of others’ work.
* Assist the Civil Structural Engineering Lead in the development of templates, tools, and procedures to enhance the efficiency and quality of structural engineering deliverables.
About you
You will have a strong background in structural engineering design with working knowledge of construction and maintenance practices. You’ll have a genuine passion for developing structural engineering design, continuous learning and development and mentoring of other engineers.
Qualifications
* Degree in Structural Engineering that will allow admission as Corporate Member of Institute of Engineers, Australia (CPEng is desirable)
* Proven experience in a similar role delivering structural designs within the renewables and high‑voltage transmission utility sector, including work with electricity network providers such as ElectraNet and Transgrid (desirable).
* Advanced skills and experience with structural design software’s to carry out structural steelwork and foundation design, including substation gantry structure and foundation design (desirable).
