Our Client is a well‐established organisation operating within the marine and port operations sector, supporting critical towage and vessel operations across regional Western Australia. With a strong focus on safety, operational efficiency, and compliance, they are seeking an experienced Operations Superintendent to join their leadership team in Port Hedland.
Key Responsibilities
* Leading safe and efficient day‐to‐day marine and towage operations
* Managing and supporting the Operations Team across operational activities
* Coordinating operational requirements in line with contractual and regulatory obligations
* Supporting compliance with company safety management systems and operational procedures
* Coordinating cyclone preparedness activities for operational vessels
* Managing crew competency and training strategies across operations
* Overseeing simulator and on‐water training programs
* Leading annual operational and training audit preparation activities
* Conducting internal ISM audits and supporting vessel inspections
* Managing operational reporting requirements and KPI reporting activities
* Leading operational incident investigations and reporting outcomes
* Chairing operational standards and safety committee meetings
* Maintaining strong relationships with contractors, port stakeholders, and operational partners
* Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across marine operations
* Ensuring operational activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with maritime standards

Qualifications
The successful candidate will be an experienced marine operations professional with strong leadership capabilities and a demonstrated ability to manage operational activities within a fast‐paced and safety‐critical environment. They will thrive in a hands‐on operational leadership role and possess the ability to coordinate multiple priorities while maintaining a strong focus on compliance, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence.
* Minimum seven years' experience within the marine industry
* Previous experience within towage and/or port operations is highly regarded
* Seagoing experience as a Master or Chief Officer is highly desirable
* Strong understanding of Australian maritime legislation and compliance requirements
* Knowledge of SOLAS conventions, ISM systems, and marine operational standards
* ISM Auditor qualification and experience are highly desirableStrong leadership and people management capabilities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Strong organisational and operational planning skills
* Ability to work effectively within high‐pressure operational environments
* Current MSIC or ability to obtain one
* Strong commitment to workplace health, safety, and operational compliance
