Overview
Sydney-based AUD Rates Sales Trader responsible for driving client engagement, executing flow trading, and delivering market insights across the Australian rates product suite including government bonds, semi‐government bonds, and interest rate derivatives.
The role combines sales origination and relationship management with trading execution and risk awareness, acting as a key interface between clients and the trading desk.
Collaborates closely with research, structuring, and syndication to deliver tailored solutions and optimise client outcomes, contributing to the growth and profitability of the Australia Rates franchise.
Responsibilities
* Execute trades across the suite of AUD interest rate cash and derivative products.
* Support pricing and liquidity provision for clients.
* Drive client engagement and revenue generation across the AUD rates franchise through disciplined execution.
* Develop a deep understanding of client needs and proactively originate flow opportunities aligned with the bank's strategy.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional clients to drive repeat business.
* Provide timely market colour, trade ideas, and advisory content to clients.
* Ensure accurate trade capture and adherence to booking and reporting requirements.
* Operate within authorised trading limits and monitor risk exposure.
* Partner with trading, research, structuring, and syndication to deliver client solutions.
* Build relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery.
* Maintain connectivity with brokers and market participants.
* Identify opportunities for business growth and contribute to strategy.
* Adhere to all internal policies and regulatory frameworks.
* Develop client and trade analytics and insights to support revenue generation.
Qualifications
* 2–5 years of relevant experience across rates sales, trading, or hybrid roles.
* Strong understanding of Australian rates and fixed‐income markets.
* Experience in client engagement, execution, and market commentary.
* Degree in finance, economics, mathematics or a related discipline.
* Strong technical capability including Excel (VBA advantageous).
* Excellent communication skills.
