MONA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Venue Manager to play a critical leadership role in overseeing the Lawns and Wine Bar operations. This role involves providing high level support for the Venue Manager, driving operational excellence, managing financials and compliance, and leading a large team to deliver two distinct, high-quality hospitality experiences in a demanding, high-volume environment.

The Gig
As the Assistant Venue Manager, you will:
* Support the Venue Manager in all aspects of venue operation, including opening, closing, and overall management during peak periods.
* Be actively involved in day-to-day service, this is a hands-on role, and the right person will thrive on being present in service.
* Lead by example and inspire the team, taking responsibility, alongside the Venue Manager, for staff development, performance management, and reward/retention strategies.
* Support with daily administrative and financial processes, including stock control, payment reconciliations, invoicing, and working with payroll.
* Work with the Venue Manager on solutions and initiatives to improve venue performance and maximise return on investment (ROI).
* Implement, refine, and enforce procedures and service standards to ensure consistent, exceptional service across both the fast-paced Lawns and the dynamic Wine Bar.
* Ensure the presentation and service of all food, wine, and beverages adhere to MONA's world-class standards, promoting our philosophies to our guests through complete dining experiences.
* Ensure compliance with all OH&S regulations, RSA requirements, and the company's sustainability initiatives, including the Zero Trash philosophy.
The You
* At least 2 years of supervising or management experience in a high-volume, multi-outlet food and beverage or restaurant environment.
* A proven track record in leading, developing, and mentoring large and diverse teams.
* Strong financial literacy, with experience understanding budgets, reporting, and wages.
* Exceptional organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex operations and remain professional under pressure.
* Great communication skills with employees, customers and guests.
* Must hold a current, valid Tasmanian Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
* Full availability and flexibility over trading days (particularly Thursday–Monday and holidays) is essential.
