About us
HWL Ebsworth is not your typical law firm. Our rapid rise to become the largest legal partnership in Australia shows that in our case, the differences are real. We deliver first class legal advice to our government and commercial clients in every State and Territory across Australia, made up of 1700 people including over 280 Partners.
The opportunity
We're looking for a People Systems Analyst to take full ownership of our HRIS implementation - from the early groundwork and data cleansing through to activation, optimisation, and ongoing enhancement. This is a rare opportunity to shape our people systems ecosystem from the ground up, build strong foundations, and influence how our organisation leverages the system long term.
Reporting directly to our Operations Manager and dotted line to the Project Manager, you'll be the go‐to expert for our HRIS project, balancing strategic design with hands‐on configuration and problem‐solving. If you enjoy variety, autonomy, and the chance to create something new, this role will suit you.
You'll be busy with:
* Leading the configuration and deployment for go‐live, including core data structures, workflow logic, security frameworks, and permission models.
* Supporting and enhancing multiple modules - such as Recruiting, Onboarding, Performance, Compensation, and Learning - ensuring they run smoothly and meet business needs.
* Designing creative, user‐centred solutions that make the most of system capabilities to solve complex people‐systems challenges.
* Mapping of the current and future state processes.
* Investigating and resolving system issues, data discrepancies, and cross‐module errors with a methodical and solutions‐focused approach.
* Owning large‐scale data updates and maintaining high standards of data integrity, validation, and governance.
* Managing system access, security roles, and compliance requirements, ensuring alignment with audit and privacy expectations.
* Assisting with integrations and supporting the flow of accurate, reliable data between the system, payroll, and other connected systems.
* Partnering closely with P&D, IT, and external partners to deliver a seamless and well‐governed HRIS environment.
Ideally, you'll come with:
* Experience working with an HRIS implementation (an HRIS such as Workday desirable) in a systems, analyst, or configuration‐focused role (exposure to multiple modules is ideal) for end to end implementation.
* Professional services such as law or accounting firm experience advantageous
* Confidence managing large data sets, performing data cleansing, and applying strong data governance practices.
* A track record of troubleshooting system issues, analysing root causes, and implementing practical solutions.
* Familiarity with integrations and how data flows between HR, payroll, and other business systems.
* The ability to translate business needs into system requirements and work effectively with stakeholders across P&D, IT, and external vendors
* A mindset that blends curiosity, problem‐solving, and willingness to roll up your sleeves - especially important in a newly created role.
