About the opportunity

The Funeral Support Assessment Team (FSAT) is seeking an experienced and compassionate leader to support the implementation of a centralised model of care for the burial and cremation of deceased persons without financial means, in alignment with NSW Ministry of Health policy.

FSAT coordinates financial means assessments and works collaboratively with stakeholders across NSW to facilitate funeral arrangements, ensuring services are delivered with dignity, consistency and care.

This role requires working closely with families of the deceased and engaging with individuals experiencing grief and distress, as well as managing sensitive and at times confronting information. You will support a multidisciplinary team and stakeholders to navigate complex, evolving systems while delivering compassionate, high-quality services.

The successful applicant may be based in Sydney or Newcastle. NSW Health Pathology supports flexible working arrangements.

What you'll be doing

The role of the Funeral Support Assessment Team (FSAT) Program Lead is to coordinate, lead and manage work tasks and activities associated with successful service delivery which involves supporting managers in storage management and associated activities in Forensic Medicine to meet program objectives. The role provides professional support to managers and stakeholders associated with the financial means assessment for the facilitation of government funded funerals for coronial and non-coronial community deaths.

* Relevant tertiary qualifications in health administration, business management, human resources, or related discipline and/or demonstrated equivalent knowledge and experience in a healthcare or complex administrative environment.
* Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising teams in a complex health environment.
* Proven ability to interpret and understand policy and legislation in a health service environment.
* Demonstrated high-level organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
* Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to consult/liaise effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
* Sound analytical and problem-solving skills with the capacity to gather and analyse complex information.
* Relevant experience in supporting the development and implementation of training and competency programs.
